We've spent the last few weeks talking about Jesus the teacher. We've learned that he was a great teacher. He was patient. He was honest. Today we're going to see that he was a forgiving teacher.

Today's reading is about the day Jesus was crucified. So many bad things happened to him when he was crucified. People whipped him and beat him. They hung him on the cross by hammering nails through his hands and feet. The soldiers took Jesus' clothes and left him on the cross naked and thirsty. A lot of very mean things were done to Jesus, all because some people didn't like the things he taught.

While Jesus was hanging on the cross he prayed to his Father. He could have asked God to hurt the people who had hurt him. He could have asked God to take him off the cross and heal him. Instead, he prayed that God would forgive the people who had hurt him....
