Probably every word you know is in this book. What is this
book called? (Let them answer.) That's right. It's a
dictionary. It has every word you and I know plus many that we
don't know.

Words are important to us. We put words together and
explain to people what we think about things and how we feel. We
can tell our parents if we are hungry, or tired, or bored, or
excited. We do that by using words.

One day Jesus went back to his home town of Nazareth and he
sat in the place that was very much like a church. It was the
place people gathered to worship God. It was called a
"synagogue." In the synagogue Jesus read some words of
scripture, much as we will read words of scripture here today.
And then he began to put words together that made everyone very
