Good morning, boys and girls. How many of you have pets? (Let them answer.) I brought my pet with me this morning. It's my invisible dog. I had the hardest time training my dog to trust and obey me and to do tricks. Have any of you had experiences in trying to get your pets to obey you? (Let them answer.) I want to tell you a story about how I was able to finally train my dog to trust and love me.

When I first got my dog she was just a puppy. I thought that I knew how to make her obey me. I treated her very rough at first. I did this because I thought it would make her respect me. I would say to her, (in a stern voice) "Come here!" "Sit," "Follow me," "Roll over!" But she wouldn't listen to me. Why do you suppose she wouldn't listen? (Let them answer.) She...
